Abandoned buildings have been removed from the Nairoby Station building in the Kenyan capital of Nairobombe.
The Kenyan authorities are hoping to rebuild the station in the next few months.
A spokesperson for the Kenyan government said the Nara City Council and the city council of Nguni will decide when to start work on the building.
It is expected to take around six months to rebuild and reopen.
The station was originally built in the 19th century.
It served as the capital of the colonial state of Natal.
Its destruction marks the end of an era for the city, which was once one of Kenya’s most important cultural and economic centres.
