The next time you walk into a station, you’re likely to be surprised by what you see.
The future of Ireland’s train network is not in doubt.
In the next few years, we will see some significant new developments.

(Photo: Alastair Stewart/PA)It is not likely that any new trains will be built in the next decade, but it is likely that we will have some new stations built over the next five years.
As part of the new station, the station is being built to replace the old Dungannon Station in Northern Ireland.
The station building was designed in 1962 by Charles Ainslie and is the largest single structure of its kind in the world.
It is the only station building in Ireland that is still standing and was constructed in the same building as the station it replaced.
It is also the only one of its type that has been in use since the 1950s.
In a series of documents published by the Department of Transport, we were given a sneak peek at what this future station will look like.
It includes plans for an underground car park and an extension of the platform at the end of the station.
There is a great deal of detail in the document but we were unable to see all of it in detail.
This is why we took the opportunity to go back and look at the document in more detail to get a clearer idea of what is going to happen next.
What we know about the Dundee stationThe plan for Dundee’s station was presented to the Department in December 2016.
It describes how a new building is being constructed on a site currently used for rail maintenance.
It proposes a new “station building” that will include an underground parking garage, new platforms, a new entrance, and a new pedestrian crossing at the station entrance.
It proposes a number of different options for the building, including a new station at the top of the structure, a “dormitory” type building on the station site, and more modern structures.
It was revealed in December 2017 that the Department had not yet received a tender for the construction of the Dundonald station.
However, it is understood that the construction has started and that the work is expected to be completed by the end, in 2021.
There are three options for where the new Dundonadal station will go: the old station at Dundonagon, the new building, or an extension.
The Dundonal station is one of the most spectacular structures in the Northern Ireland landscape and it will be home to the station that will be used by Irish Rail from 2021.

Its original purpose was to be the station for the Dungannnon and Dunganmore railway stations in Northern England, but in the early 1970s, the then Minister for Transport, Pat McEnroe, proposed a new location for the station and the new development was announced in 1983.
It will be the first station in the new Northern Ireland network and will be fully operational from 2021 onwards.
The Department is planning to build a new terminal, new passenger services, and to add more rail capacity.

The original plan was for a new facility at the corner of the Northern Leeson and Dunnanmore roads.
It was planned to be a new underground car parking garage and a further extension of a pedestrian crossing to be built on the site.
The Department did not receive a tender to build the new train station, but the design was developed and approved by the then Secretary of State, Frances Fitzgerald, and was designed by Irish Engineering.

The development of the site has been a long-term commitment of the Department and has involved a lot of community engagement.
It has been planned since the late 1960s, and it was intended to be complete by 2021.
However the original plans for this station were shelved and a second round of development was held in 2013.
The final decision was made to keep it going for another decade.
